'77 Fiat Spider Electrical Problem

Post by ystephen »

Need help trouble-shooting a short that is blowing a the "I" fuse in my '77 Fiat Spider. Is there a way to test
the reverse switch? I've heard broken wires there is a common problem. The back up lights, turn signals and
radiator fan aren't working.

Check with others, but i think the backup switch just grounds the circuit, so even if it was loose it wouldn't blow a fuse.

I believe the back-up light switch switches power to the back-up lights.
If the wire feeding the switch from the fuse touches ground the fuse will blow. I tried to follow the 1977 Diagram on Brads site. I had trouble confirming the fuse list with the wire diagram. From the wire diagram I could only find the horn and radiator fan circuits on fuse I.
Back-up lights and turn signals are shown on fuse A.

So I think there is more than one problem causing your symptoms.
