seat belt warning light and chime

My 83 Spider has a new issue. when started the seat belt chime does not stop after the usual time period. When the seat belt is connected then the chime stops but the warning light remains on. If I drive a mile or two the light will go off . When the warning light is on the turn signals ar very slow then return to normal speed once the light goes out. I suspect a relay might be the culprit Any thoughts??? Brian K
