New member from San Diego 73 Spider

Post by Pauld »

Hi - I'm from San Diego and looking to stay up on events in the area as well as discuss Spiders in general. I bought my Spider last summer from EBay where it had been donated to a charity. I'm an old muscle car guy so this was a new venture into the world of foreign sports cars. More work than I would have liked but I've got it running good and looking a lot better (especially the interior which was a mess). My first issue was the rear end which I replaced with new pumpkin (upgraded to the larger gear set - 3.90 - for highway driving). Since then I've put in clutch and cable, u-joints, KYB shocks all around, new rear trailing arms and bushings and numerous small drive train parts. The body was pretty good but I had to replace some sheet metal in the floors. Interior was pretty beat up but since I've upgraded with new wood for dash and console, new carpet and door panels and installed seat covers to clean up the rips in the seats. I'd still like to get better seats but I can't find an aftermarket or replacement from another car that works. I love to drive it around and the engine runs great even though about 110k miles. I also bought new rims from Vick and new tires that give the car a great look. I'll try and post pictures soon.

Thanks - Paul

Good looking car. I like how the pin stripe brings out the body line on the white cars.
