I was having this problem occasionally last fall before she went into the deep sleep!
Occasionally when I went to back up the engine really strained and sometimes stalled. It's like the brakes were on. Forward no problem. 1981 standard 5 speed.
Any suggestions??
Doesn't want to back up???
