Heater Core

Post by johndemar »

Going to replace the original core and valve tomorrow. Any advice other than draining the coolant and removing the passenger seat to avoid ruining my back?
Hoping to avoid removing the console.

My one day project turned into 2 weeks, and yes, seats and both consoles came out.

All in and the plumbing is connected, but have a question about connecting the valve cable.

Kit came from AR and the original type valve is NLA. The old valve has a nice round peg to slip the round end of the original cable over. The new valve is more square and 90 degrees in alignment from the old valve. So it's how to fit a square peg in a round hole. Thought about trying to bend the really stiff cable, but can't believe that's the answer, and tough to do while laying on your back.

Those that have changed these out, how did you handle connecting the cable?

Thanks
