Ready to get this back on and make the car look like a car. I have four questions (none of which I can find answer/threads for on the site):

1 - Is it advisable to use silicone in the V where the bottom of the gasket fits?
2 - When in the groove, it appears to me that two of the gasket flaps at the bottom of the gasket, are to be in front of the V, towards the cowl. Then, I imagine, the top part of the gasket sits atop the cowl, the bottom part up against the rear of the cowl (out of site, hidden by the windscreen). Right?
3 - The few diagrams I can find seem to show a washer for the four bolts. Regular washer? Something special? Does it matter?
4 - How does one hold the upper nut? The box that it fits into is too narrow for a socket. Just...jam a screwdriver in there to hold it until it grabs?

2 - When in the groove, it appears to me that two of the gasket flaps at the bottom of the gasket, are to be in front of the V, towards the cowl. Then, I imagine, the top part of the gasket sits atop the cowl, the bottom part up against the rear of the cowl (out of site, hidden by the windscreen). Right? Correct. Make sure the rear flap is over the rear part of the frame V. Easier to do if the dash is out.

3 - The few diagrams I can find seem to show a washer for the four bolts. Regular washer? Something special? Does it matter? I used Stainless Steel washers with Loctite on threads once windscreen was in proper position.

4 - How does one hold the upper nut? The box that it fits into is too narrow for a socket. Just...jam a screwdriver in there to hold it until it grabs? The nuts on my car were tack welded on! you could do that. I a sure the screwdriver would work also.

Thanks Drummond, this worked just right excepting one issue I can't see: that upper nut. Might you remember how much of the bolt stuck through after tightening? Seems to be tight but I can't get a good look into that hole. (Italian design...) After what seems to be tightening (as opposed to getting wedged up against the stainless washer) only the very tip of the bolt sticks through the nut.

Besides that, it's in and I got the alignment sorted. Not the worst job on the car.
