First no start

Post by racydave »

Its the first time in 3 years she gave me a probleem. Started her up after work, backfired thru carb, and would not start. The choke butterfly was stuck from the backfire! I loosened the screws to the butterfly, and wacked it and started her up. Shes been a great car! Now I need to tighten up my loose carb...

Dave, are you sure it was a wack? According to Ace, there is a definitive hierarchy of force used on our cars:
"Ron, it goes like this, from least to most, and calibration of the wrist is very critical: Flick Tap Rap Dull Blow Smack Bonk Sharp Blow Heavy Blow Slam Pile Driver As a point of comparison, a Bonk is what I should have done to your noggin after you sabatoged your car before you gave ..."
I don't see wack in the list.

I mean nothing personal by this, but i think that after a hard day at work, Dave accidently mis-spelled his word. I believe he meant to write WHACK

Please forgive me, Dave, if i am putting words in your mouth...

Main Entry: 1whack
Pronunciation: \ˈhwak, ˈwak\
Function: verb
Etymology: probably imitative of the sound of a blow
Date: 1719
transitive verb
1 a: to strike with a smart or resounding blow <whack the ball>

So, ron. if my presumption of Dave's intentions are correct, then i believe you will find BLOW on your list at least twice. And, having worked on Fiats with Dave in the recent past, i believe his intention was slightly less than your "sharp blow".

"It got persuaded", now that's funny, I don't care who your are.
