Need radiator help!

Post by blanchardkeith »

I just put a new radiator in my 75. For some reason the water runs back into the overflow fromthe raditor and then my radiator is empty. It doesn't seem to go back into the radiator but the overflow then is totaly full!. The hose from the overflow isn't blocked, I can blow air and bubbles into the overflow. Any suggestions?
Thanks for the help!

You must have a bad radiator cap.

Depending on the length of the neck of the radiator filler you may need a different radiator cap, perhaps with a different
pressure rating, I seem to remember a 'posting' about this and the 'long and short' necks !

Hope that helps ?

It's funny you say that. The cap that came with it was leaking, so they pulled a brand new one from a package. When the engine is cold and I undo that cap there is a pressure release sound.....Kinda like tupperware. Could it still be bad?
Thanks again for the help.
