Dropping oil pan / Spider Automatic

Post by beex64 »

Can i get good tips how to replace oil pan for Automatic Spider. My problem is flashing oil warning light.
It shine sometimes maybe one second when i brake or accelerate.Sender unit is new so i belive that i should replace oil pan (it has some bent) and at same time i will replace oil pump. How high i should lift engine to get pan away and do i have to remove linkage between gear shifter and tranny ?.Do i have to drop crossmembers ?.

to get the pan out, you have to lift the engine as high as it will go. The pan still won't come out if the baffles are still in place in the pan. You have to reach up inside and unbolt the oil pump and let it drop into the pan for enough clearance. If the oil pump is broken, the pan may come out, but you won't be able to install it with the new oil pump in place

Just got new oil sump and plan is to replace it in a next weekend. New sump has´nt got baffles inside. Do i need baffles or not ?.
Do i have to remove waterhoses and automatic gear shifter link before lift engine ? or can i lift it without remove those items ?.
Can i install new oilpump before i replace new oil sump to it´s place ?.

you can do without the baffles, unless you're going road racing. No need to disconnect the shifter unless you're taking the tranny out
