Re: Radiator
The "all metal" radiators used in Spiders are easily repaired by specialty repair shops. I'm sure there are several radiator repair locations in Indy.
I've not seen new copper radiators for sale in the catalogs. Some have adapted (I think) a Volvo unit; do a search on this topic. International Auto Parts has just introduced an drop-in aluminum radiator for the Spider. It's not in their catalog yet.
All-in-all, unless you're running A/C and/or a really powerful motor, I'd suggest getting your OEM unit repaired and cleaned out. I've never heard of problems with a well-maintained OEM system.

Re: Radiator
Im with Mark on this one. A 30 year old Radiator scares me. I know I could have it re-cored. Since I do drive it out of the state, Im opting for a new one! And IAP's Aluninummm rad is $600 plus bucks... They must be very unusual, the only ones I can find are from a few Fiat vendors...

If you don't have the new one yet, I was going to scan the new IAP aluminum radiator picture and post it here.mbouse wrote:i have one at work. i was just curious, and too lazy to look it up... why?

Re: Radiator
How did it all turn out? Looks like I have a clogged radiator, hot on top cool on bottom .. I called the local repair guy could be as little a $60 to get it cleaned etc. That seems a lot less than the $700 at IAP.
Am I making a mistake?

Re: Radiator
$60 to rid yourself of some ageing symptoms? as long as he pressure tests it after he's thru, you should be golden.
$700 for a new aluminum radiator sounds steep to me....for my car. But, i'll gladly help Dave install that rad in his machine anytime.

Re: Radiator
I opted for the conventional Radiator thru IAP as they are having a sale. Also ordered upper and lower hoses, rubber mount, and new fan switch. With shipping was around $350.00. Also this week, I recieved a good header bow for the conv. top frame. Now, all thats left is pickin a paint color, and payin for the paint. She should be painted in approx 3 weeks!!! Thanks for the suggestions!
