The car was starting easily and idling at 1500 rpms but, it ran a little rough and when I step on the gas the rpms go up and when I take my foot off the gas the car dies out. I adjusted the air fuel mixture screw (screwed it all the way in and then backed it out until it smoothed out and I adjusted the idle screw until I got the rpms to 850. It was running pretty good so I connected the two hoses to air intake and screwed it down and turned it off.
However, before I turned it off (and connected the hoses, air filter and cover) I notice a little smoke coming out of the breather hose that connects to the breather that is showed in the picture on the left. I shut the car down for a few minutes and then tried to restart the car and it did not want to start. I was able to get it started but, it is running rough.

There is gonna be smoke coming out of that breather, some of it is moisture (steam) some of it is blow-by, it is normal and no big deal.
On my 72 with the same carb ( but no electric choke) there is a small idle jet which cannot be seen in your picture because of the angle. It is beneath the lower left air cleaner mounting stud. There will be a small brass bolt, I think it is 8mm (5/16) it threads into carb body horizontally. Behind it is the little idle jet, it should, hopefully come out with the bolt. It has a tiny hole in it and mine plugs once in a while, resulting in slightly harder starting, more choke needed, and a stumble right off idle.
Turn idle mix screw in till it seats gently, then out 1 1/2 turns is good starting point.

Thanks for the help. I cleaned the small idle jet and adjusted the idle mix screw. There still is a lot of what looks like a bluish tint smoke coming from the breather hose. I know you said not to worry about it but, before I started adjusting the idle mix screw and idle screw there was no smoke...it just seems odd and a little too much of it. Any thoughts?
Ok, I fixed the large amounts of bluish tint smoke coming from the breather hose by adjusting the Auto choke. New problem...when I step on the gas it bogs downs and I have to feather to get the rpms up.
