This is my first Fiat.
I was under the dash and I encountered two new things. A place to run a choke cable and a lever off to the left just above the left foot in the foot well. Do these cars have a manual choke and what is the lever for that has a cable running through the firewall? psg

The '78 didn't have a manual choke, but it did have a manual throttle cable with a round black knob. The lever above your left foot with a cable attached? Your hood release? Or do you have a second phantom lever?

I took the hood off the car a year ago and forgot that it is the hood lever but tell me about the manual throttle. I had something like that on an early Ford...the original cruise control? psg

I have never found the manual throttle to be useful for anything. It's too crude to act as a cruise control. Maybe if you lived in the rain forest you'd need something like that to keep the rev's up in extreme dampness, but I doubt it. It's a conversation piece.
