Timing belt rides way to the back after rebuild, I seen this online but cant remember where and why. I am thinking it don't matter a whole lot. I know the Idler pully has nothing to do with it. Who remembers why this happens? See the belt ride way back on the exhaust side and the belt is hugging the intake belt guide

misalignment or worn pulleys

I agree with the worn pully syndrome. My crank pully was so worn, i dont know how it coulda worked. So therefore it musta put some wear on the back of the cam pulleys making them "smaller" causing the belt to favor the rear of the pulleys.
