Last week our intrepid bear arrived in Canada – and he had an agenda!
When he first arrived in Manotick (near Ottawa), Sam immediately asked to see the “hardwareâ€. I thought he meant tools and other garage stuff, but when we got there he showed me what he really longed to touch, since he had never seen one before...
While we were there, he couldn’t resist playing with the whales...
Back inside the house, Sam discovered his musical side. He really likes the blues...
We went for a sightseeing tour through the village and he demanded that we stop and admire a car. I could swear I heard him say, “Oh Mommy, please?! I promise to be good!â€
On Sunday Sam took the Italian Car Club of Ottawa on a tour through the Gatineau Hills, north of the city, to a member’s cottage.
The tour began at Frank’s Auto Centre, where many of the members have their cars maintained. You might recognize some familiar faces from FFO’s.
There was a fine collection of Italian art at the cottage, where we had lots of socializing and a great Italian BBQ...
...and some of us played bocce (there are a lot of Italians in the club).
On the way home, Sam made me stop at the foot of the statue commemorating Terry Fox, who ran much of the way across Canada with an artificial leg, to raise money and awareness for cancer research. The statue is across the street from Canada’s famous Peace Tower, on Parliament Hill.
Finally, Sam found what he’d come all this way to do – FREEZE HIS LITTLE FUR BALLS OFF!
Who knows where he'll show up next?

Re: Globe Trotter
Great pics Peter. With all those Italian cars about, did Sam ask for keys?
Perhaps with a pair of shoes like what Pope's mom was wearing with the "Barbie" 500, he could reach the pedals.
I know the weather has been suspect this year back east, but gotta love the snow. (Sen's training camp?)

Re: Globe Trotter
It looks like Sam has made quite a few friends in the great White North! I had no clue he liked the Blues and I really am concerned about his attention to the Whaletail.

Craig - The door's always open, JD is available and the guitars are tuned (all 5)
The Pantera has a mean 351 with tuned headers and no mufflers. It is sweet.
We don't really get snow here in August, but Sam found a pile behind an arena (not the Sens) and just wanted to play.
Denise - He grew up pretty close to Memphis - of course he digs the blues! Who doesn't?
He's had a great time and is looking forward to his next adventure, wherever that may be.
