Oh, goody...

Post by Kingme2 »

Drove back from weekend trip, and the engine dropped back to 3... cylendars?!?!?!

So, my shopping list from I.A. so far:

Fiat 2-Liter Short Block
Cylinder Heads
Timing Belt
Oil Pump

Since I'm in up to my testies already... anything else a "must buy"?
Am I going to regret it if I don't purchase the Performance Camshaft Set?
Anything else?

My mechanic is willing (uh, huh), just want to make sure the first shopping list is mostly the only shopping list...

Lol, or, if someone has a decent 2.0 sitting around....

Hey Mark...

ummm, wondering if that is for a performance upgrade, or for ease of install?

My '80 is FI, not carb'd... Does the 1.8 head mount to a FI, or are you suggesting I jump to a carb system?

Yeah, had an order ready to process there, just had to hit the buy it now button... instead I found a used 2L (not refurb, just used) for a tiny fraction of the price, inc heads. Since I was paying for the shipping, I bought their tranny for $400 also... just in case.

Crossing fingers that I didn't buy a huge cool looking paperweight...

Is your engine not rebuildable? That would be cheaper and you'd know what you had. I think there's a limit to what you can use in regards to performance cams on an FI so you may waste your money if you do buy bigger cams.

Well, the used one is enroute... as long as it can be made to run, perhaps I'll mount the original to a stand and rebuild it (might be translated to "mount it to a stand and bribe my cousin to rebuild it"...)
