I hope this does not sound to stupid but I rather be safe than sorry. I just recieved my mainbearings and was abouty to install them when I noticed that 4 sets have a groove in the middle and one set was solid and slightly wider. After looking at the engine I think the solid bearings go in the rear most position. The slight diffference in width looks to hold the thrust washers in. Can anybody give me the right position for the solid bearings.
Thanks
Rick

Re: Main Bearings?
I believe the one that's slightly wider and without a groove goes in the middle.

The wider bearing goes in the middle - here are a couple of pics from when I was rebuilding my engine. The bearing caps are lined up in order, front to rear.

Thanks for the info that is exactly what I needed. Now time for the plasta guage and torque wrench.

One thing you may want to consider is buying new rod bolts if you haven't already. We had a problem with them stretching and not wanting to torque down. A couple of them broke. It's such a pain in the rear to be in the middle of a rebuild and have to wait a couple days for more parts.

Re: Main Bearings?
Thanks for the advice. I have a new set of rods. I was debate having the originals resized and new bolts but I found a real good deal on the new rods.
