WE'RE ON THE NEW SERVER!

Today, Monday 10/19/2009 we successfully migrated the entire site - database, software and all to a new managed server platform. This wasn't easy with the fairly massive amount of data we have here as well as the somewhat complex nature of the forum itself. But I got'er done. Everyone should notice an increase in overall speed, plus downtime should be non-existant. With this platform comes the opportunity to possibly add some new features. I'll be looking into some of these features in the near future. For now though, let's let this new situation settle in some. Please let me know if any of you have any problems. This wasn't a minor operation, so if it goes without any issues at all, frankly, I'll be suprised. Thanks for all the support and patience. We're in a better place! As always, donations are greatly appreciated!

So far, so good. Everything seems to be working great. Another thing I've noticed: features that I had a hard if not impossible time getting to work before are now working - E-mail from the site being one of the big things that's now working. So e-mail notifications should be up and running properly now. Search is blazing fast and works real well! That's a huge plus given the number of posts we have. Good stuff.

I can see the avatars. But the icon to the email addresses are missing. Anyone else?

The avatars come and go for me. Some appear and some don't. If I reload the page, some will appear and some not, but not necessarily the same ones as before the reload.

Avatars - Not sure what the deal is here. I'm seeing everyone's - no problem.
Maybe clear your cache in your browser. With the e-mail link, I think I may have fixed that one.
Continue to keep me in the loop on issues, I'll do my best to check into them and get things fixed.

Evan, the email functionality is different. Before the upgrade, once could click on the email icon and the recipient's email address was populated on your email client. When you mouse over the email icon, you could see the email address at teh bottom of teh screen.

Now, it looks like there's an email app that's part of the upgrade. The site (application) sends the email on behalf of the forum user. Here's ab excerpt of the my test message.

I think the e-mail issue is fixed now.

i deleted browsing history, cookies and temporary internet files from my web browser.

i can now see my avatar, but not an icon for email. i double checked to make sure my user file contained an email address... which it does. but i see no icons for anyone's email.
