Gun Metal-Pearl & Bumper Boots

For those who asked from another topic area here are a couple of pics. Regarding the Pearl paint color. I cannot get my camera to even come close to how it looks when light reflects off my new paint job. The base coat is GM White using several coats to get the solid look. Then several coats of angel gold pearl mixed in with clear. Then four clear coats. Left to harden for a few days then wet sanded and repainted with several more coats of a super clear coat that the name escapes me... Maybe crystal clear? Whatever it is is to enhance the reflective properties of the pearl. I will let it harden for several weeks while I refurbish other bits then will wet cut and polish once again.

One picture shows my second set of Rotas purchased from Mark Allison with this set being the gun metal sitting on Champiro Sport V tires. The combination gives a fantastic ride with the wheels being very lite and the tires super smooth and very quiet. Courtnenay (Bruce) purchased my number 1 car which as the same setup but in silver and loves them.

Second picture shows a quick and dirty mod I made this week to the bumper shocks and the way they look. I could not live with the crappy way Fiat finished off the shocks so I came up with this simple and clean solution. $5 each in Canada so about 0.50 cents in the U.S. I did not want the hassle of pulling the shocks so I simply cut them to length and slit them down the underside and popped them over the shock. A couple of black ties and presto. Now it looks like an older beemer.

I must apologize for my dirty bumpers as I have not serviced them has yet.... Kind of like getting caught in the hospital with dirty undies on

Cambell River.... suns comming

Jim the car looks great. I do like those wheels. I know I sound like a stuck record, but wish I found this forum before I did my 80.
I might have to blast to Victoria quick. If time permits I'd love to pop up and see first hand.

Look forward to your visit if you can make it. Should have all the doors and panels on by then. I'm trying to find those nylon wiper plenum adjusters so I can get the thing installed. Mine fell apart when removing.

Brilliant colour, my 79 is original refrigerator white, I was thinking of going Cadillac pearl white...any thoughts. Also, great tip on the bumper shocks, is this just flex PVC tubing? Nice wheels...

Cheers!

Mine is GM base white with a fine gold angel pearl and a lot of clear. Sometimes looks slightly silver then white depending on the reflective light. However that could all change when it get cut and buffed to a super shine. The shock covers are actually heavy rubber not plastic. They are real shock boots to cover your shocks from getting crap in them. Wish I had thought of this last week cause I would have put them over my new shocks when I cut the springs down and did the brakes.

Your color choice is gorgeous! Although I chose to go original, that brilliant glow is fabulous! I am a big fan of 'metal-flake' and white; this is the perfect match between those.
